Televsion
Ah, good ole tv. Being an only child with an interesting imagination, it didn't take much for me to get caught up in one of my favorite shows. Whether it was a sitcom where everyone's problems were miraculously solved in a half hour or a family drama that kept me glued to the tv set until the very end. It was my world and in a sense a sort of babysitter.
Sitcoms from top left to bottom right; The Cosby Show, Full House, Facts of Life, Growing Pains, Who's The Boss, Designing Women, Family Ties, Night Court, Charles in Charge and Head of the Class.
I still remember faithfully setting up the VCR to tape each show I wanted to watch later because I would be in school, doing my homework, at my part time job or out with my friends. The teens of today do have certain advantages with the internet. Now you can watch tv whenever you want on Netflix, Hula or YouTube. Plus with the invention of the DVR, no making sure you have a tape in the machine, just pull up your on screen channel guide to highlight the show and click record. Yet without the VCR, the DVR probably wouldn't have been thought of.
Movies
Back in the day when you actually went to a theater to watch a movie, there was some really awesome ones. A few times a year my parents were nice enough to treat me to a big screen flick but for the most part I'd wait patiently until they hit the premium channels on tv or did the commercialized version on the local networks. The posters below are just a sampling of the great movies of this decade. I've seen all but a few of them.
